The main opposition MDP’s mayoral candidate for Male’ City, Adam Azim says that it is he who will develop Vilimale’ in accordance with the aspirations of the island’s residents.
After a campaign event to visit 100 homes in Vilimale’ on Friday, Azim said that the suburban island is sorely neglected and sidelined.
Azim said he envisions making Vilimale’ an island with the facilities needed for residents and visitors, while maintaining its peace and tranquility.
During the door-to-door visits, Azim pledged his maximum commitment to delivering the goal.
Azim said that he will not accept that the issue of municipal services in the greater Male’ area has been resolved until the government stops sidelining Vilimale’, and establishes sufficient facilities and services there.
He noted that one of the biggest concerns in Vilimale’ is the fiber works in the island. During Friday’s doo-to-door visits, Azim promised to start efforts to relocate works involving hazardous chemical waste away from residential areas.
Azim said he also wants to repair the main roads of Vilimale’.
Azim said that services should be available to the public, without them needing to beg for it. He has promised to expand city council services to 24/7.
He told voters that previous mayors had neglected the development of Vilimale’, and reiterated his commitment to delivering his promise of a “fehi thanavas” or “green and spacious” Male’.
