Voting begins in by-elections in three islands

Voting has begun in by-elections for vacancies in local councils in three islands, and the women’s development committee in one.

Elections Commission (EC) announced that voting began at 08:00 am Saturday, and will close at 04:00 pm.

The by-elections are being held for local councils in HA. Kelaa, N. Maafaru, and ADh. Hangnameedhoo.

Maafaru is also voting to fill vacancies at the island’s women’s development committee.

The EC is set to conduct more by-elections next year, including the Male’ City Council by-election.
