Young picnicker dies in Addu inhabited island

A young man died on Saturday, while on a picnic in an uninhabited island in Addu.

The incident took place at Ehruh’heraa, which lies near the Hithadhoo district of Addu.

According to the police, the young man, identified as a 29-year-old Maldivian male, was evacuated to the Feydhoo Health Center with the assistance of the Coast Guard after his condition deteriorated.

The case was reported to the police at around 12:55 pm Saturday.

The health center informed the police that he was already deceased when taken to the facility, said the police.

The exact cause of the death is unclear at this point.
