As the term of Ombudsperson’s Office of Transitional Justice (OTJ), formed by Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has come to an end, they are being ordered to hand over the documents to the Finance Ministry.

The OTJ said in an announcement that the term for the office ended yesterday. Therefore, when the office is dissolved, all hardware and documents have been ordered to be handed over to the Finance Ministry.

The OTJ's, which has spent a lot of money, term ended yesterday and there are still many cases that have not been investigated.

Last week, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also raided the office to investigate a corruption case. OTJ did not cooperate with the investigation, the ACC said.

On 13th of this month, the office’s Ombudsperson Jihadha Anees resigned. She brought problems in the running of the office to light.

The OTJ was established by former President Solih on December 17, 2020. The OTJ was established in order to seek justice for violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms committed since January 1, 1953. However, this was not done even when the commission was dissolved.
