Muggers crash stolen bike

Two people crashed a motorbike in an accident in Male’ City on Sunday, as they attempted to flee after stealing the vehicle.

The thieves reportedly fled on the stolen motorbike along the Orchid Magu and the Lily Magu, with another motorbike – believed to be the owner of the stolen vehicle – hot on their heels.

They also reportedly mugged a group of tourists while they were being chased along Lily Magu, before the two motorbikes collided, outside the Dhivehi Insurance headquarters.

A police spokesperson said the accident was reported to the authorities at around 07:02 pm.

Preliminary findings show the motorbikes was a stolen vehicle, said the spokesperson.

The police are at the scene.
