Saudis reiterate commitment to supporting Maldives’ development

Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat to the Maldives reiterated the country’s commitment to supporting the development of the Indian Ocean island nation on Saturday, in a meeting with the newly-elected Maldivian president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Saudi Ambassador Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari called on Muizzu at his Male’ residence, Dhimyath, at 10:00 am Saturday. The meeting was also attended by the Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef.

At the meeting, Muizzu said he hopes to enhance Maldives-Saudi relations, and take it to new heights during his presidency.

Muizzu noted that Maldives-Saudi relations are rooted in a common faith, and expressed hopes of strengthening ties between Maldives and Arab Islamic nations.

He thanked Saudi Arabia for supporting projects in the Maldives, and asked for support in delivering his electoral pledges.

Aldosari noted that Maldives and Saudi Arabia share ties on multiple fronts.

He provided assurance that Saudi Arabia will fully support efforts to strengthen Maldives-Saudi relations, and to fulfill Maldives’ developmental needs.
