Eduvest’s education expo begins

Eduvest’s education expo, ‘Eduvest Study Abroad Expo 2023’, commenced on Thursday with the participation of leading foreign universities.

The expo was inaugurated during a special ceremony held at Meeruma. The ceremony was attended by Minister for Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan as the chief guest and high commissioners from Australia, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.

Delivering his remarks after inaugurating the expo, Higher Education Minister Ibrahim Hassan described expositions that provide consultations to students as of extreme importance for the Maldives at present and highlighted the importance of such services for local students who wish to pursue their education abroad in choosing the right university.

Minister Ibrahim Hassan said that the current administration, allocating special priority to higher education, has opened a great number of opportunities for students to pursue their higher education. On this note, he highlighted the free first-degree program of the current administration.

“In light of this scheme, we have seen many students apply to complete their studies in local universities and colleges. As of this morning, 18,803 students have been registered under this scheme. We have spent over MVR 636 million to finance this scheme,” he said.

Minister Ibrahim Hassan also said that the current administration has expanded the student loan scheme and deducted the interest on loans in order to pave the way for more students to study abroad.

Eduvest said that the education expo which commenced on Thursday will continue till Saturday. The expo will be held between 4:00pm and 10:00pm, on all three days.

Leading universities from Australia, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Spain are partaking in the expo. Students will have the opportunity to meet with officials from those universities.

They will be provided information regarding courses and scholarships available at the opportunity. Students can also fill out their applications for universities at the expo.

Entrance to the expo is free of charge, after filling the following form. The expo will also feature workshops regarding student visas, work prospects and changes expected to job opportunities in the coming years.

A lucky draw will be taken amongst the attendees with the winner standing the chance to win a gift that will be valuable to students.
