Police destroy 4,100 alcohol bottes, 4,421 beer cans

Maldives Police Service, on Sunday, has destroyed a large number of alcohol seized during various operations.

They detailed that the items destroyed at Dhoonidhoo on Sunday included those under the custody of the Drug Enforcement Department in connection to various cases and those under the custody of Tourist Police, Hulhumale’ Police and the Drug Enforcement Department that have been seized over various incidents not involving suspects.

The destroyed items include 4,100 branded bottles of alcohol, 743 PET bottles of alcohol, 4,421 beer cans and 19 packets of alcohol bottles.

The items were destroyed under the watch of a committee formed by the Prosecutor General’s Office, in accordance with the regulation on disposing items seized as evidence in cases involving alcohol.
