Practical works have begun on the land reclamation project to develop an airport in B. Thulhaadhoo.
The Planning Ministry awarded the land reclamation project to Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company (CMCCC) in July.
44.70 hectors of land will be reclaimed under the project.
Practical works on the project were inaugurated by Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain on Tuesday.
In July, the Planning Ministry awarded land reclamation projects in three islands to the CMCCC; Thulhaadhoo, Sh. Bilehfahi, and Th. Vilufushi.
56.34 hectors of land will be reclaimed each in Vilufushi and Bilehfahi.
The projects in the three islands are valued at total USD 42.4 million (MVR 653 million).
Land is being reclaimed in all three islands for airport development projects.
