Authorities suspend Alhan Fahmy's passport

The passport of former MP Alhan Fahmy’s passport has been suspended under a court order.

Maldives Police Service have said that Alhan’s company “King Capital Holdings” is suspected of running a Ponzi scheme. He has previously been arrested under suspicions of stealing money from people using fraud and deception, and money laundering.

A police spokesperson told Sun today that the court had issued a travel ban order in connection with a case being investigated by the police.

However, the police did not disclose any further details.

He had earlier been summoned by the police for questioning and taking statements in the investigation into the alleged laundering of huge sums of money by Kings Capital Holdings Pvt Ltd by openly introducing an investment scheme in violation of financial security laws, rules and regulations in the Maldives.

Police also raided Alhan's office, King Capital Holdings, with a court order and seized his phone.

According to police, Alhan had extorted more than MVR 98 million from 1864 people.
