Opposition PPM-PNC coalition’s presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states allegations by the government claiming Urbanco employees will lose their jobs in his administration, if elected, are a misrepresentation.
Speaking at a campaign event on Wednesday, Muizzu clarified his remarks at his manifesto launching ceremony. In this regard, he detailed that he said he would shift the jurisdiction of both phases of Hulhumale’ to Male’ City Council in accordance with the laws and regulations.
He detailed that although municipal services in Hulhumale’ will be transferred under the council’s oversight, it will be at the discretion of the employee whether to shift their place of employment.
Muizzu also clarified that his earlier remarks, regarding shifting the resources, were with respect to vehicles and equipment, and not employees.
“That is not what I said. I said the budget will be reallocated, including resources which means changing vehicles and other equipment used,” he said.
Muizzu said additional staff will be hired after the shift among employees is completed, within the reallocated budget.
The opposition PPM-PNC coalition’s presidential candidate, at Wednesday’s campaign event in Kanditheemu, also denied allegations made against him by the government, where he promised Urbanco employees will not lose their jobs.
