President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to upgrade the health centre in B. Goidhoo to a hospital if elected for a second term, paving the way for the provision of better healthcare services not only to residents of Goidhoo, but also residents of neighboring islands.

Goidhoo was the third island President Solih visited on Monday as part of his ongoing campaign tour of Baa Atoll.

Speaking to residents of the island, the president unveiled his pledges if elected for a second term;

President Solih noted that further needs of the residents will be identified through discussions with the local council.

Speaking further, the president said changes that have been brought to Goidhoo, Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo are clearly visible to the residents.

“Did things for them after learning the living conditions of islanders. By believing, from the bottom of our hearts, they are things that needed to be done for them,” he said.

He also said he has been fulfilling the pledges he made in 2018 will full independence. On this note, he stressed that no one has been politically imprisoned during the past five years.

The president said that the decision of Maldivians, especially that of Goidhoo residents, in the upcoming presidential election, is closely linked to the future of the Maldives.

On this note, he detailed that it was becoming evidently clear that citizens do not wish to revert back to instability across the nation before 2018.

President Solih said the decision during this year’s presidential election is between choosing to move forward with the development works presently underway, and reverting to the instability and cruelty the country saw before he took office.
