The draw among recipients of the remaining 145 Hiyaa flats – developed during former president Abdulla Yameen’s administration – that have not been allocated for various reasons was taken on Sunday.
The current administration previously decided against awarding flats to individuals who scored below 50 points in the civil service category.
However, in June this year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, at the recommendation of his cabinet, decided to award Hiyaa flats to 45 individuals who were previously ineligible for allocation in the civil service category after scoring below 50 points.
They include technical, administrative and support staff employed in various ministries, government offices, and Male’ City Council.
Apart from this, President Solih, back then, had also decided to allocate 145 Hiyaa flats that remained vacant for various reasons in the order of the reserve list.
The draw held on Sunday pertained to 145 vacant Hiyaa flats, among recipients in order of the reserve list and civil servants who newly qualified for the flats.
The 16 Hiyaa towers, comprising of 15-storeys each, were developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II during Yameen’s administration, in line with social housing.
