Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office), on Tuesday, has warned that tidal surges are expected across the Maldives in the prevailing three days.

As per the office, northern atolls have the highest chance of experiencing tidal surges – either during the high tide, or a few minutes before the high tide.

High tide is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday as follows;

  • Between 12:00pm and 1:00pm in northern region
  • Between 1:00pm and 2:00pm in central region
  • Between 1:00pm and 2:00pm in southern region

Therewith, Met Office urged the public to take precautions accordingly.

Met Office, for Tuesday, forecasts calm weather across the nation, including calm seas and winds.

Tidal surges rocked Male’ City and a number of other islands across atolls earlier this month. Back then, Met Office said tidal surges were being experienced due to high tide, despite calm seas.
