Police probe attempted rape of nurse at Thimarafushi

Police have launched an investigation into the attempted rape of a nurse in Th. Thimarafushi.

According to the police, the investigation was launched in response to a report that a person sneaked into the residence of a woman of foreign nationality, and attempted to sexually assault her.

The incident took place at midnight Monday.

The victim is reportedly a nurse employed at the island’s health center.

A local who spoke to Sun said she sought medical treatment from the health center in neighboring Veymandoo on Tuesday.

The source said it wasn’t clear if the case was an attempted rape or a robbery.

Thimarafushi Health Center’s in-charge Althaf decline to comment, as the case is an ongoing police investigation.
