Elections Commission (EC) states e-Faas cannot be used as a means of identification to vote in the upcoming presidential elections.

EC said four documents will be accepted for identification to vote in this year’s presidential elections; national identity card, passport, passport card and driver’s license.

“However, these documents will only be accepted if they are not expired and comprises of a clear picture,” they added.

EC, noting e-Faas has not been permitted as a valid identification document for this year’s election, said a decision on permitting e-Faas as a valid identification document in upcoming elections will be made at a later date.

e-Faas is presently accepted as a valid identification document by some authorities presently. As e-Faas is heavily relied upon by the public for identification purposes, EC has urged the public to pay attention to its elimination as an identification document in this election.

The presidential election of 2023 is slated for September 9th. Should a second round be necessary, it will be held on September 30th
