President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made the decision to award Hiyaa flats to 45 individuals who were previously ineligible for allocation in the civil service category dye to scoring below 50 points.
He approved the allocation of flats to individuals who scored below 50 points in the civil service category and the allocation of 146 vacant flats from the Hiya housing scheme on Thursday, based on recommendations from the Cabinet after deliberations on a paper presented by the Housing Ministry.
According to the President’s Office, the permanent list for the Hiyaa housing scheme does not include individuals who scored below 50 points in any category other than the civil service category
The housing scheme allocated a specific number of flats for individuals working in technical fields in the civil service and Male’ City Council.
The cabinet recommended allocating the 145 flats that have become available for various reasons following the order of the reserve list.
Meanwhile, President Solih also approved recommendations of the 'Gedhoruveriya Committee' on the future course of action for the 'Binveriya' housing scheme.
The Gedhoruveringe Committee is tasked with assessing and finalizing the list of individuals eligible for flats and lands under the administration's 'Binveriya' and 'Gedhoruveriya' housing schemes.
According to the President’s Office, further information regarding the decision will be released by the Housing Ministry later.
The 'Binveriya' housing scheme is the largest housing initiative undertaken in the country. It has received 15,164 applications from 23,088 individuals.
