Gemanafushi Council’s president Ibrahim Nashid told Sun that development of the island’s roads is one of the biggest dreams of the island’s residents.

“We face major flooding whenever it rains. This government project will solve these issues,” he said.

Gemanafushi is a 53.7-hector island populated by some 1,900 people. Though most famous as a fishing island, some of the island’s residents also engage in farming.
