Suspect in kidnapping case remanded for 15 days

The man, who was arrested in connection with the kidnapping in a house in Male city, has been remanded in custody for 15 days.

Police said that they have released the juvenile, a boy under the age of 18, arrested in connection the case, to the custody his family.

The case is being investigated further.

Three men were rescued from a house in the city yesterday in relation to this case.

They noted that Police carried the rescue operation after receiving reports about people being held hostage in a house in Henveiru Abadhah Ufaa Road.

They added that they forcefully entered the house in question, and rescued the three, who were Maldivians. It was also revealed the victims received treatment from IGMH, for various degrees of injuries.

The authorities have not revealed the identities of the hostages nor the victims, and that the incident is currently under further investigation.
