Teen sustains serious injuries in Hulhumale’ accident

A young man sustained serious injuries on Thursday, following a road accident involving a bus and motorbike in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The accident, which took place at the corner Gulhazaarma Hingun and Dhunburigas Magu, was reported to the police at 08:51 am Thursday.

The 19-year-old male who was driving the motorbike sustained serious injuries in the crash.

He was taken to the Hulhumale’ Hospital.

An official from the hospital said his condition remains serious, and that they were working on stabilizing him so he can be transferred to the ADK Hospital in Male’ for further treatment.

“There’s nothing we can do here. We are working on stabilizing him and shifting him to ADK,” said the official.

Photos on social media show the bike hit the bus on its side, shattering one of the windows.

The Greater Male’ Area, and especially the Sinamale’ Bridge and the Hulhumale’ Phase II, has become a scene of dangerous accidents in recent months, some of them fatal.
