Elections Commission (EC) has executed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with five organizations for collaborations with respect to the presidential election slated for September 9th.
The MoUs were signed during a special ceremony held at Dharubaaruge, which is the focal point of EC for this year’s election.
The five organizations EC executed MoUs with are;
The signing ceremony was attended by top officials the five organizations. They include Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, Civil Service Commission’s President Mohamed Nasih, Deputy Minister for Planning Aishath Rasheeda, who is temporarily overseeing the operations of the Department of National Registration, Managing Director of Maldives Post Limited Adam Mohamed and Director at Local Government Authority Shammoon Adil.
Speaking at the ceremony, EC’s President Fuad Thaufeeq said the agreements executed on Tuesday serve as solid a step forward in the commission’s efforts to ensure a smooth and peaceful election.
“I have no doubt it would significantly ease our workload while making the work also more complete,” he said.
Fuad said the collaborative work with the organizations will pave the way for additional progress in their work.

With less than 90 days for the election, EC has publicized the regulation for this year’s election the registry of eligible voters. They will be accepting complaints for the registry till June 22nd.
