VP Naseem: Most religious programmes held this year

Vice President Faisal Naseem on Wednesday night stated that compared to the previous years, a greater number of religious programmes were held this year.

He made these remarks during a meeting held with religious scholars who participated in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs' religious awareness initiatives throughout the holy month of Ramadan 1444 AH. These events included Ihya forums designed for school students and the general public

During the meeting, VP Naseem expressed gratitude towards the scholars and individuals for their hard work in organising and facilitating the religious programmes during Ramadan. He thanked them for their efforts in promoting Islamic values and educating the community about Islam.

Additionally, he spoke about the administration’s commitment to promoting religious awareness and communal harmony, and being aware of  the importance of fostering societal harmony and developing human resources.

Hence, he noted that the administration plans to increase its efforts to promote religious awareness and foster religious compassion among students and civil communities in the upcoming academic year.

The Vice President also stated that the administration is committed to organising Quran recitation competitions and other initiatives that promote religious values. He also emphasised the importance of working together to create a community that prioritises education and the advancement of society.

Additionally, the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Zahir, who also addressed the gathering said that this was the result of a joint effort by the ministry and scholars. He further highlighted the efforts of scholars to create religious awareness in Ramadan as well as throughout the rest of the year.

According to the Islamic Ministry, in preparation for Ramadan, workshops were held. During Ramadan itself, a total of 20 Ihya forums were held, lectures were given at 32 mosques after Asr prayer, and 244 lectures were given by scholars. Moreover, various programmes were held across the atolls.
