Maldives and China have engaged discussions regarding strengthening collaboration on areas of mutual interests, such as trade and commerce.
The discussions took place during a courtesy call on Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih by the Governor of China’s Yunnan Province, Wang Yubo.
Wang visited President Solih at his office on Sunday morning.
Beginning the meeting, President Solih welcomed Wang and his delegation to the Maldives.
He emphasized the strong bilateral relations between e Maldives and China, and discussed further enhancing the existing ties between the two countries, especially on areas such as tourism, education, sports, and agriculture.
President Solih expressed appreciation for the Chinese government's support in advancing the Maldives' socioeconomic development.
Meanwhile, Wang expressed interest in collaborating with Maldives on mutually beneficial initiatives, particularly in the fields of trade and commerce.
Before concluding their meeting, both President Solih and Wang expressed confidence in the continuous collaboration between Maldives and China, both bilaterally and on the international stage, to address mutual concerns and fortify the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
