VP Faisal: Health sector pay hike will encourage higher education in the field

Vice President Faisal Naseem, on Friday, remarked the administration’s enforcement of pay hike for health sector workers this month will encourage more students to pursue higher education in the sector.

He made the remark while speaking at a meeting with the Maldivian community residing in Bangladesh as per of his ongoing official visit to the nation to attend the sixth Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) 2023.

The meeting was held at the High of the Maldives in Bangladesh where he also met with the management and staff of the consulate

VP Faisal, during the meeting, noted that many Maldivian medical students and others in specialized fields choose to attain higher education at Bangladeshi institutions. The close bilateral relations between Maldives and Bangladesh have resulted in easing visa facilitation for Maldivian students, he said.

He also highlighted the administration’s ambitious plans to enhance healthcare services across the country. On this note, VP Faisal said the administration prioritizes training staff who offer invaluable services due to the need to increase the number of trained professionals in the workforce.

Speaking regarding Maldivian communities living abroad – VP Faisal assured the administration is committed to providing them with the necessary services without discrimination.
