WAMCO MD suspended for allegedly influencing sexual misconduct probe

Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO)’s Managing Director Yoosuf Siraj has been suspended.

An official from WAMCO confirmed to Sun that Privatization and Corporatization Board suspended the company’s managing director.

Siraj was suspended over allegations of influencing a sexual misconduct case under probe by WAMCO’s ‘Committee Against Sexual Harassment and Violence’, as per the official.

Siraj was appointed to the post on September 1, 2022. At the time of his appointment, he was serving as WAMCO’s Deputy Managing Director.

Siraj has previously served as the president of Haa Alifu Atoll Council. He was dismissed from the post through a no-confidence vote. Prior to that, he had been involved in the education sector.
