Civil Court, on Sunday, has ordered Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) to pay MVR 1 million in pending dues to a private company.
The Civil Court case filed by Salts and Sands Private Limited, which sought to recover payment for goods it had sold to WAMCO.
In this regard, Salts and Sands Private Limited was seeking a total of MVR 1,330,920.67 from WAMCO, which included MVR 1,280,290.67 in unpaid dues for goods it had sold to WAMCO and MVR 50,000 incurred in legal fees.
WAMCO contested part of the claim, stating that it had already paid MVR 115,428.70 of the amount owed.
Consequently, the Court ordered WAMCO to pay the remaining MVR 1,215,491.97 to Salts and Sands Private Limited within 15 days, excluding the amount already settled.
Although WAMCO had requested a period of not less than one year for the repayment, the claimant disagreed with such a long repayment period.
While WAMCO requested a repayment period of no less than one year, the claimant opposed such an extended timeframe.
