Transport Ministry has revealed that the licenses of the captains of the two speedboats that were involved in a crash off Feydhoofinolhu on Saturday, that resulted in one fatality, have been suspended.
Transport Ministry said necessary action will be taken following investigations. The only action taken meanwhile, as per the Ministry, is license suspension of the captains of the two speedboats.
Police, on Sunday, said no arrests have been made in connection to the case yet as they investigate the crash further.
The collision of two speedboats was reported to police at around 04:42 pm Saturday.
The accident resulted in injuries to Saudhulla Ahmed, 53, a businessman from B. Kudarikilu, who died shortly after he was taken to the ADK Hospital in Male’.
Saudhulla was the managing director of SAS E Construction, which engages in major projects such as land reclamation and coastal protection.
He had previously worked at Rainbow Enterprises and AMIN Construction.
Saudhulla is survived by three children and nine siblings. His funeral was held on Sunday.
