A major fire broke out at a building in K. Thilafushi on Friday afternoon.
The fire broke out at approximately 12:45pm this afternoon.
Maldives National Defense Force’s (MNDF) media official told Sun that firemen were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report of the fire and they are presently working to control the fire.
A video viral on social media shows the building engulfed in fire and black smoke.
As per MNDF, 80 percent of the fire has been controlled as of the present, while it had not spread to any adjoining buildings. The building where the fire broke out comprises of two floors. While the ground floor is used as storage for timber, the upper floors are utilized as an accommodation block for workers.
No one was injured in the fire.
