President: Hafizes must continue on their path

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged hafizes to continue on their paths and do more to maintain their prestige.

He made the appeal at the closing ceremony of the 35th National Quran Recitation Competition held at the Islamic Center on Monday.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih congratulated the winners and stressed the importance of memorizing and practicing the Tajweed rules of the Holy Quran for the present and the hereafter. He also urged the participants of the competition to continue on their paths.

He also noted the high number of hafizes in the country and spoke about the importance of doing more to maintain their prestige. He also asked the public to question the reason behind the need to invite hafizes from other countries to lead the Tarawih prayers during Ramadan.

He called on the public to make the best use of the fasting month of Ramadan, to seek solace and strength in the beacon of light that is the Holy Quran, and to remain steadfast in the path of religious practices and good behavior.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to upholding and preserving the true values and principles of Islam and the Holy Quran, President Solih urged all to strive hard towards instilling those in young children.

Speaking in this regard, he called on higher education institutions to promote the teachings of the Holy Quran and the message of Islam, supported by scientific research and technological advancements in the modern world.

At the ceremony, President Solih conferred the top awards in the categories of recitation from the book, recitation from memory, and hafizes, in addition to the top awards for the leading institution and the competition’s top winners.
