The President of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on Saturday said that the coalition formed by the current government, including MDA enables citizens to become self sufficient.
In a tweet, Siyam said that the coalition formed will bring a government that would provide self sufficiency to the people. He has also used the hashtag #Ibu2023 in his tweet, indicating his support.
Following his victory against former President Mohamed Nasheed in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential primary, incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been in discussion with political parties to form a coalition.
MDA was the first party to announce its decision to work together with MDP for the presidential election slated for September this year.
Speaking at the party’s congress held during February, Siyam said that looking at the current climate the country is in, it was not best for him to contest this election, and went on to propose working in coalition with MDP.
