Asir located 13 days after he was reported missing

Home Minister Imran Abdulla, on late Thursday night, announced that the whereabouts of Mohamed Asir Ismail, 31, Gaskara, S. Maradhoo-Feydhoo, has been located after almost two weeks since he was initially reported missing.

Via a tweet, Minister Imran, announcing that Asir had been found, thanked Maldives Police Service for their tireless efforts in the search operation.

He gave no further details on the matter, therewith, Asir’s condition, when he was found, remains unclear at the moment.

In an earlier statement, the Police reported having reviewed over 150 hours’ worth of CCTV footage as part of the search efforts from cameras based near his residence and Velana International Airport (VIA) where he was last seen.

They had also inquired whether any bookings were made under Asir’s name for travel domestically or internationally. The course of investigation, as reported by the Police, confirmed to them that Asir had not traveled to any country abroad or domestically.

In addition to this, the Police also inquired whether he had made any bookings at guesthouses in Male’ area and K. Maafushi.

Police made an announcement seeking public help to locate Asir on Tuesday, February 7th, citing his family last heard from him on Sunday, February 5.
