Teen girl goes missing while on the way to school

Maldives Police Service, on Tuesday, has launched a search operation for a teenage girl who went missing while on her way to school in Hulhumale’.

Police said they are searching for a 15-year-old girl who went missing while on her way to school in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

Although Police typically disclose the identities of children who are reported missing, they have not done so in this case so far.

According to the Police, the case was reported at approximately 8:30am this morning.

Police detailed that, based on their investigations so far, they can confirm the teenage girl who was heading to school from Hiyaa Tower 8 did not arrive at school.

The search for the girl is being conducted by the Police in collaboration with the Education Ministry and the school.

While young children and youths are occasionally reported missing in the Maldives, they are usually located soon after search efforts are launched.
