Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, said increased cases of two diseases were reported in January compared to December.
Statistics publicized by HPA show that increased cases of diarrhea and influenza were reported in January compared to December.
While 3,363 cases of diarrhea were reported in December, cases reported in January increased to 3,502. However, cases of diarrhea reported this year are lower than the cases reported in previous years. In this regard, 9,488 cases of diarrhea were reported in last year’s January.
Tests conducted over symptoms of Influenza in January also increased. So far this year, 115 samples were taken of which 19 tested positive.
Cases of dengue reported in January have decreased compared to December. While 205 cases of dengue were reported in December, 195 cases were reported in January. During last year, 22 cases of dengue were reported.
HPA’s statistics show that flu cases reported in January decreased compared to December but had increased compared to last year.
31,334 flu cases were reported in December while 29,307 flu cases were reported in January.
Although reports of cases of some diseases have decreased – HPA emphasized on the importance of taking precautionary measures against such diseases.
