All arrestees from Monday’s morning opposition PPM-PNC coalition protest, with the exception of three, have been released from custody.
The protest coinciding with the time President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih delivered his presidential address at the inaugural sitting of the parliament for the prevailing year took place near the People’s Majlis building area.
A total of 20 arrests were made during the protest which included Deputy Mayor of Male’ City Ahmed Nareesh.
A Police Spokesperson told Sun on Tuesday that all arrestees have now been released with the exception of three. Deputy Mayor Nareesh was included among those released.
The Spokesperson said that three individuals still remain in police custody.
The protestors were calling for the resignation of President Solih and to free the imprisoned opposition leader, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
