Young man reported missing from Cochin found safe

The Maldivian man who went missing from India’s Cochin last Tuesday has been found safe.

Mohamed Mahudhee, 35, K. Thulusdhoo, had traveled to India with his family to seek medical treatment.

Mahudhee’s sister, Aminath Arushee told Sun that her brother was found by Indian police Tuesday afternoon.

“The police station called us and asked us to come with his passport and other documents,” she said.

She said that the police told the family Mahudhee was found safe, but did not know any additional details.

In a previous interview to Sun, Arushee said Mahudhee had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

“My brother suffers from severe bipolar disorder. He gets very violent now. He became extremely violent and uncontrollable during consultation today and left the hospital. We went after him but later lost sight of him. We immediately began looking for him,” she said.

Mahudhee was reported to Cochin police as a missing person around one hour after he went missing. The case was also immediately reported to Maldivian authorities.
