An issue with the water system forced the Rehendhi School in Hulhumale’ to cut shorts classes Wednesday.

The school’s afternoon session was cut short at interval time.

Education Ministry’s permanent secretary Ahmed Ali told Sun that the issues with the school’s water system began on Monday, resulting in sporadic water outages.

Ahmed Ali said that the school’s water tanks located on the fifth floor.

“The water doesn’t reach the fifth floor due to high water pressure. So, when the water in the tanks is used, there isn’t any water left. This is what happened today as well,” he said.

He said the Education Ministry, Rehendhi School, and Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) are working to resolve the issue.

“We are working on installing pressure pumps,” he said.

Ahmed Ali said the issue will be resolved in time for classes Thursday.
