18-year-old dies in fall from Vinares towers

A teenager died on Thursday, after falling from the Vinares towers in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

According to police, the teenager, identified as an 18-year-old Maldivian male, fell from Vinares 8. However, the exact floor from which he fell is unclear.

The teenager was rushed to the hospital with the assistance of the police.

The police confirmed he died while under treatment, but did not disclose any details regarding the extent of his injuries.

The fall comes three months after a young woman fell from the ninth floor of a building in Male’. The circumstances behind her death sparked a criminal investigation, as well as youth-led protests in the streets of the capital over allegations of a police coverup.
