President and First Lady depart on official visit to Alifushi

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have begun an official two-day visit to R. Alifushi.

They departed to Alifushi on Thursday morning.

President’s Office spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed told Sun that the first couple’s visit to Alifushi is to attend the official function to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed annually on December 3.

However, the official function to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities is being held in Alifushi on Thursday night.

The first couple are also scheduled to attend a family evening to mark the occasion, which will he held ahead of the official function, according to Miuvaan.

“He is also scheduled to meet with members of the local council and the women’s development committee,” he said.

President Solih is also scheduled to meet with members of the R. Atoll Council, and officially open a new multi-purpose hall in Alifushi.

The first couple is accompanied on the visit by a senior delegation of government officials.
