President of Maldives Democratic Alliance (MDA) and Parliament representative of Dh.Meedhoo constituency Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on Thursday said that in a government of the party, one by third of the fruits and vegetable needed for Maldives will be grown locally using the latest technologies.
In a tweet, Siyam assured that MDA would make farming a profitable work that ensures the entry of dollars in to the accounts of farmers.
A large segment of the foot items consumed in Maldives are imported from different parts of the world.
However, Siyam does not believe this to be the way when looking at food security of Maldives. He also believes the best outcome will come when growing food locally in one’s own country.
In addition to this, finding the path to growing food without excessive usage of fetilizers is also part of Siyam’s vision for Maldives.
