Court accepts Nasheed’s MVR 10M lawsuit against Mavota Shareef

The Civil Court has registered the MVR 10 million lawsuit filed by Parliament Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed against Maradhoo MP Adam ‘Mavota’ Shareef for defamation.

The law firm representing Nasheed told Sun the lawsuit was registered with the court Wednesday.

The lawsuit was filed following a tweet by Shareef on November 25, in which he alleged Nasheed had attempted to carry out a massacre.

The tweet has since been deleted.

Nasheed asked the court to establish Shareef defamed him with his comment.

He asked for MVR 10 million as compensation.
