MNU partners with ADK Hospital to train students in allied health professions

Maldives National University (MNU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ADK Hospital to provide training to students in allied health professions.

The MoU was signed by MNU’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shareef and ADK Hospital’s Managing Director Ahmed Afaal at MNU’s main campus on Tuesday.

Speaking at the signing, Shareef said the MoU pertains to practical placement of the university’s medical students enrolled in allied health professions.

He noted that ADK already provides placement for MNU’s students enrolled in nursing and medicine courses.

“This isn’t the first time we are working with ADK. They already provide training to our Medical School students,” he said.

Afaal noted that ADK and MNU have been working together for years.

“We are working to uphold the highest standards in training health professionals in Maldives and have them join the service as skilled professionals,” he said.

The allied health areas covered under the MoU include:

  • Primary healthcare
  • Public health
  • Occupational health and safety
  • Counselling, psychology
  • Social work
  • Health service management
  • Physiotherapy
  • Pharmacy
  • Medical laboratory sciences
