HDC permits commercial use of Hulhumale’ buildings

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has permitted for first floors of privately-owned buildings in Hulhumale' to be utilized for commercial use.

HDC issued the permit at the request of the Economic Ministry to promote for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and increase trade opportunities.

The permission applies to the first floors of privately-owned buildings in Hulhumale’.

HDC said that business will be permitted to operate shops, restaurants and other businesses.

However, industrial use such as operation of garages and warehouses aren’t permissible.

HDC said it expects the move to boost business in Hulhumale’, and offer more services to Hulhumale’ residents.

In addition to increasing the convenience of the public, it will also facilitate the development of SMEs, said the corporation.

HDC said it remains committed to supporting the government’s efforts to promote business.
