VP: National progress depends on ability to produce skilled workforce

The progress of a nation depends on its ability to produce a skilled workforce, states Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem.

He made the remark while speaking at the graduation ceremony for the year 2022 of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program held at JEN Maldives on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Faisal applauded Dhiraagu and its executives for introducing such a socially beneficial program and continuing the program for 13 consecutive years.

He also applauded other companies involved in efforts to develop a skilled workforce.

Faisal said that it is important to build a resilient and strong workforce in the changing world where anything can happen at any time.

He said that the education sector and human resource development were of chief priority to the Maldivian administration.

Thousands of students benefiting from the free degree program and vocational training programs initiated by this administration, he said.

Faisal encouraged young people to never give up on their pursuit of learning new talents and to utilize the opportunities that are available to them.

15 apprentices successfully graduated from the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program 2022.

The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program is the first corporate apprenticeship program introduced in the Maldives. It is a key CSR initiative of Dhiraagu with the objective of helping develop employability skills in Maldivian youth. The company has been conducting an apprenticeship program since 2009. A total of 247 young people have enrolled in the program to date.
