President confers highest honor awarded to girl guides to Yumna

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Tuesday, conferred the highest honor awarded to girl guides – the President’s Badge – to Fathimath Yumna Athif.

The ‘President’s Badge’ was conferred to Yumna during a special ceremony held at the President’s Office on Tuesday which was attended by Chief Guide, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Girl Guide Association’s President, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, and Girl Guide Association’s Chief Commissioner Niumaath Shafeeg.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih congratulated Yumna on receiving the honor and admired her contributions as a member of the Girl Guide movement. He described the movement as a crucial activity for students.

Apart from the ‘President’s Badge’, Yuma holds 31 other badges. She is the 14^th student to receive the badge since its introduction in 1998. It also marks the first time a girl guide representing a school outside of Malé City received the honor.

Yumna represents Baa Atoll Education Centre.
