Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) states that its leader, former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will visit all inhabited islands before the next presidential elections are held next year.
In a press conference held by Progressive Congress Coalition today, the spokesperson for PPM, Heena Waleed said that a number of islands have requested Yameen visit their islands.
He will first be travelling to N. Atoll from the 25th to the 28th of October.
He is set to visit six islands in the aforementioned atoll. They include N. Kendhikulhudhoo, N. Manadhoo, N. Holhudhoo, N. Velidhoo, N. Miladhoo and N. Magoodhoo.
Heena Waleed stated further that after concluding his visit to N. Atoll he is set to visit Addu City on the 3rd of November.
"Currently the date set is 3rd November. It is possible that a change may occur in the date. Nevertheless, he will visit Addu City in November" she stated.
Heena also stated that plans are being made for Yameen to visit GDh. Atoll and Fuvahmulah City in the month of November as well.
She expanded further saying that after the visits planned for November he will visit other islands at a fast pace starting in January of next year.
She elaborated that he will visit every island of the Maldives and witness the state of the citizens on a closer level before the 2023 elections.
She also stated that the coalition's activities are also going ahead at an expeditious rate.
She highlighted that the previously mentioned activities are going strong in the islands and that after the local elections are held they will further invigorate the activities.
Yameen has recently visited six islands in HA. Atoll as well, as the Presidential candidate for PPM.
