White alert for heavy rain in southern Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued white alert for a large part of central Maldives and the whole of southern Maldives, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The white alert is effective from 07:45 am to 01:00 pm on Tuesday, for the area from V. Atoll to Addu City.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the area will be affected by heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusts of 45 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be rough, with waves expected to reach heights of 5-7 feet, said the service.

All, especially seafarers have been advised to be cautious.
