MVR 50 notes reprinted due to stock shortage

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced that it has received a shipment of MVR 50 notes of the Randhiha Faheh (Golden 50) note series reprinted due to a shortage in stock.

MMA said the shipment arrived in Maldives on Sunday.

However, the notes have yet to be issued into circulation, and are currently stored in the state treasury.

The Randhiha Faheh note series, which boasts enhanced security features and is printed on polymer paper, was introduced on November 1, 2015.

MMA had reprinted MVR 10 and MVR 100 notes of the Randhiha Faheh series due to a shortage in stock back in 2018, and MVR 20 notes in 2021.
