Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced physical works of the harbor development project in Sh. Maaungoodhoo.

The project is valued at MVR 59.71 million.
Speaking at the ceremony, MTCC’s CEO Azim noted that the lack of harbor in Maaungoodhoo was one of the biggest difficulties facing the residents of the island, with cargo boats having to turn away without unloading to the island during bad weather.
He provided assurance MTCC would try to complete the project as soon as possible.
“We are scheduling the work so the harbor is operational within next year,” he said.
Funadhoo MP Shahid said the development of a harbor was the biggest project in Maaungoodhoo to date.
He said a harbor was crucial to development, in terms of economics and other perspectives.
But the development of Maaungoodhoo isn’t ending with this project, he said.
“Next is the road development project. In Sha Allah, the biggest project next term will be the development of roads in Maaungoodhoo,” he said.
