MFDA orders recall of Stella brand ice cream powder

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has ordered the recall of Stella brand ice cream powder.

In a statement on Wednesday, MFDA said that the authority had received an alert from Europe’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) that Italy’s Stella brand ice cream powder containing an unregulated food coloring had been imported into Maldives.

MFDA has ordered for a cease in sale and consumption of the product until advised otherwise.

The authority said they were engaged in assessing the risk the product posed to health.
