Teaching commenced at the first school developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II, ‘Ahmed Kaamil Didi Primary School’, on Sunday morning, with a total of 824 students.
The school was officially inaugurated by Vice President Faisal Naseem during a special ceremony held this morning. This ceremony was also attended by Education Minister Aishath Ali, Hulhumale’ MP Ali Niyaz and senior officials from Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
All grades starting from Lower Kindergarten (LKG) to sixth grade will be taught at Kaamil Didi School.
Education Ministry detailed that teaching commenced at the school with 65 employees; 47 teachers and 10 administrative staff. The school comprises of 24 classrooms.
HDC contracted the construction of Kaamil Didi School to SJ Construction back in March to be completed with a duration of 165 days.
However, difficulties in importing goods required for construction delayed the work. This led to the school not being completed for the academic new year.
Therewith, Education Ministry made arrangements for students enrolled in the school to temporarily study in other schools in Hulhumale’. In this regard, students went to Huravee, Rehendhi and Gaazi School whilst wearing Kaamil Didi School’s uniform.
SJ Construction has previously stated that Kaamil Didi School was designed in a manner students with disabilities can easy access the building.
